Your fence is an extension of your home. A primary layer of defense against unwanted intruders but it is also a primary layer of protection for keeping your pets secured and safe. Your pets are naturally curious creatures, and they may have a habit of wondering off or finding ways to escape their confines to fulfil their curiosity. Placing a strong and sturdy fence is important in preventing your pets from escaping. Here are a some of the solutions we offer.
A chainlink fence is an inexpensive option for pet owners looking for something that is not just affordable but easy to maintain and install. It is typically used when protecting larger pets like dogs (not recommended for smaller dogs or puppies).
When installing your chain link fence make sure to keep a few things in mind.
1) Install your fence at a minimum depth of 6 inches below ground level. We normally advise homeowners to bury at-least 6 inches of their fence, as animals like dogs are natural diggers and often use their paws to dig below obstacles.
2) To prevent your dog from digging below your fence we often advise that steel rods be placed not just at the top but at the bottom as well. This increased the rigidity of the fence and creates an additional obstacle for your pet, making it difficult for them to dig under the fence.
3) To increase the tension in the fence and prevent any slack, we advise that chainlink fence owners, either clamp the fence tightly at short intervals on the pole vertically. Tying wire can also be used in place of clamps.
4) U-Shaped Clamps or Rods, can also be used and spaced every 3 feet between each interval on the fencing line. This prevents your dog from chewing a making a hole either under the fence or in between. It also reduces slack and adds an additional layer of protection.
A solid galvanize fence can also be used to prevent your pets from escaping. This type of fence limits your pets from interacting with those on the outside of your fence which reduces their anxiousness when strangers or other dogs pass by.
These types of fences while costly are aesthetically pleasing but require more maintenance than chain link fencing.
We also advise partially burying at-least 3 inches of the fence below ground level.
